Job Description

As the lead person in people analytics and insights, you will extract data and produce reports from an HR Information System and support the implementation of a new system. You will also lead the submissions back to the Cabinet Office, Central Government and other ministerial requests.

Description

  • Lead, manage and provide guidance to the People Data/Systems Analyst, coordinating their workload to provide clear, accurate and timely data and insights that report trends and areas for further development and focus.
  • Support or lead projects where people metrics are required to take forward the change the SFO is aiming to achieve and design analytical solutions aligned to the strategy and vision.
  • Synthesise data from a wide range of sources, using storytelling techniques to present a coherent narrative which drives action within our business groups.
  • Validation and interpretation of data to ensure that data is fit for purpose and any data quality issues are raised and resolved with both wider P&C and Finance teams.
  • Create informative and visually appealing outputs to communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders, and operate proactively when trends are identified with the business to articulate areas for attention or improvement.
  • Support the development, design and implementation of in-year pulse surveys to further explore the levels of staff engagement and inclusion, and general people information to enhance the performance and motivation of employees across the Department.
  • Effectively communicate data findings and insights to other project leads and managers who will be technical and non-technical so ensuring a clear understanding of the risks, issues and implications to the business.
  • Collaborate effectively on projects within diverse and multidisciplinary teams, fostering an innovative environment to achieve shared goals.
  • Oversee the reporting design and build from the human resources information system (HRIS) and work closely with IT and service providers to fix data management and accurate record keeping that maintains fit for purpose and timely data extraction.

Profile

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Significant and proven experience in extracting data from information systems to develop and build reports.
* Proficient use of statistical software packages such as SPSS and excellent Excel skills to analyse data, including V-look ups and other research tools.
* Work with key stakeholders and responsible for delivering against multiple project deadlines ensuring consistent use of data.
* Excellent attention to detail to support the identification of trends with the ability to articulate these to a non-technical audience.
* Experience of storytelling principles to develop coherent and engaging narrative from a range of data sources.
* Proficient in understanding HRIS systems and utlising their functionality to deliver accurate and consistent data insights.
* Successful track record in using an evidence led approach to identify trends and areas for improvement.
* Excellent team leadership and management experience in motivating and engaging people to deliver against clearly defined objectives.
* Resilience in managing a range of conflicting priorities, often at pace, understanding roles can frequently be pressurised and priorities varied.
* Able to deploy strong interpersonal skills, confidently build relationships and work collaboratively with senior internal and external colleagues.
* Experience in delivering at pace and ability to prioritise effectively.
* Confidence to navigate through complexity and ambiguity, with a significant experience of navigating through complex analytical data.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience of PowerBI
  • Experience of OTBI
  • Experience of working within a similar environment for the public purpose, public sector, civil service or not for profit.
  • Experience of operating within Civil Service governance structures and producing data and insights as requested to report on people metrics.

Job Offer

  • 36 hour working week
  • Hybrid working - 2 days a week (ideally with Wednesday being one of those days)
