Our Government Client is looking for a highly experienced Principal Technical Architect to join their dynamic CTO Office, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This pivotal role involves overseeing technical architects, designing and reviewing modern technology solutions that align with the organisation’s strategic goals. Additionally, this position will serve as the CTO's deputy.
Duties:
Act as the Lead Architect to deliver outputs included in the Digital and Technology Strategy this includes (not limited to):
An Enterprise Architecture Practice (EAP) - create and implement enterprise and technical architecture policies, processes, artifacts, reference architectures, reusable design patterns, and standards to reduce technical debt and enhance user experience using modern technology.
CI/CD (DevSecOps) capabilities - develop a service portal and a pipeline to automate workloads, reducing manual intervention.
Implementation of advanced cyber defensive capabilities to address active risks and establish a zero-trust architecture across our platforms.
Transition to the public cloud and redesign capabilities as needed to leverage native cloud features
Skills & Experience:
Qualified to industry level to ITIL, AGILE, TOGAF, MCSE, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CCNP and/or equivalent experience.
Experience of working in a matrix organisation structure leading an architecture community covering enterprise, solutions, and technical architecture aligned to TOGAF.
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and overseeing technology strategies, policies, and guidelines aligned to the UK government.
Experience in design and migration to public cloud capabilities in Microsoft 365 (M365) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Lead the secure automation of platforms, products, and services, enabling DevSecOps (e.g. Infrastructure as a Code (IaC), Containerisation, and Microservices) workflows to enhance efficiencies.
Extensive experience with server/operating system and network technologies, including at least hybrid cloud (private and public), gateways, PKI, email, VMware virtualisation platforms (including VCF, VCD, VSAN, and NSX), SASE architecture, Cisco, and Palo Alto.
Practical knowledge of auditing and security products, with an understanding of best practices for ensuring system integrity and compliance.
A thorough understanding of Well Architected Frameworks, NCSC, Cabinet Office, GDS, CIS, Cyber Essentials, and NIST IT security principles and standards.
