Are you an experienced Programme Manager looking for a new and unique Challenge? West Midlands Combined Authority may have the role for you! The West Midlands Investment Zone (WMIZ) is a bold initiative to transform our regional economy. By driving growth in advanced manufacturing including electric vehicles, green industries, health-tech, and digital platforms we aim to create 30,000 new jobs, attract £5.5bn in private investment, and secure the West Midlands as a key player in the UKs economic future.
We are looking for a Programme Manager to support the delivery of this ambitious programme, working alongside our Head of WM Investment Zone to ensure every milestone is met and the programme drives real impact for our region.
What you will be doing.As Programme Manager, youll be involved in every aspect of the WMIZ programme, ensuring timely, efficient, and compliant delivery. You will:
  • Design and manageprogrammestructures, timelines, and reporting systems.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to keep theprogrammeon track.
  • Proactivelyidentifyrisks and implement solutions tomaintainmomentum.
  • Lead on budgets, governance, procurement, and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver reports for key stakeholders and ensure allprogrammegoals are met.
  • Shape future investment strategies and manageprogrammecommunications.
  • Deputisefor the Head of WM Investment Zone andsupporttheProgrammeOfficers growth and development.
Whats essential.
  • A strongtrack recordin delivering high-profileprogrammes, includingestablishingand managingprogrammefunctions.
  • Exceptionalorganisationalskills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in managing project budgets, forecasting costs, and ensuring financial compliance.
  • Proficiencyin project management software (e.g., MS Project,Verto).
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build partnerships and resolve conflicts.
  • A proactive approach to risk management,identifyingpotential issues and implementing solutions.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders.
  • The ability tosynthesisecomplex information and communicate it effectively to diverseaudiences.
  • Aproactive, solution-focused approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Qualification in a Project Management Methodology (such as APM or Prince 2)

The location for this role is Summer Lane, Birmingham It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least X day a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
