Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Lichfield
Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 3:30pm)
Contract: Temporary (possibility of going permanent)
Experience: Social, Emotial and mental health experience desirable

Teaching Personnel are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants for an inclusive and dynamic SEN school in Lichfield. The OFSTED rated 'Outsatnding' school serves secondary-age students (ages 11–19) with a range of special educational needs, including moderate and severe learning difficulties, communication challenges, and additional sensory, social, and emotional needs. Each student has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), and our educational environment is tailored to support their growth toward independence, self-confidence, and academic achievements.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Learning and Development: Assist in the delivery of individualized education plans and adaptive curriculum pathways that include academic, vocational, and life skills education.
Encouraging Personal Growth: Help students achieve personal goals, both small and large, such as social interaction, daily routines, and academic milestones.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a nurturing and structured environment that meets the needs of each student.
Positive Engagement: Foster students' readiness and willingness to learn through interactive and engaging activities.
Behavioral Support: Apply proactive and positive behavioral strategies to support students in managing social, emotional, and sensory needs.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about working with young people with special educational needs and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Preferred qualifications include:
Prior experience in a special education or SEN support role
Strong communication and teamwork skills
An understanding of, or willingness to learn, strategies for assisting students with SEND
Must have an enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
