Company Introduction
Our client is a multi-disciplinary contractor with approximately 100 employees and turned over £22 million in the year ending 31 May 2024. The business is made up of a FM & Small Works Team, M&E Team and a Projects delivery team.
Projects fit out and refurbishment make up approximately 50% of company revenue with the remainder generated from FM & Small works and stand-alone Electrical and Mechanical works. The Role
The Estimator will be a highly motivated and organised professional, working in the successful estimating and preconstruction team. The role will involve being a point of contact for various customers across the business and receiving enquiries, producing the estimate and ensuring quality assurance from the outset. The Estimator will report directly to the Pre-Construction Manager and duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following
Responsibilities
* Site Survey and Scoping including scope price build up
* Estimating and conducting cost analysis
* Collaborating with engineers, architects and contractors to discuss and resolve issues
* Assessing cost effectiveness and identifying potential financial risks
* PQQ/ITT/ITN Support and Submissions
* Subcontract enquiry management
* Adjusting estimates and recommendations based on changes and updates to projects
* Maintaining records of estimated costs
* Liaising and responding to multiple customer needs within the department
* Organising and arranging delivery of tasks collaboratively with team members
* Management and production of pre-construction deliverables
* Enforcing quality and efficient delivery throughout the whole department
* Aligning with the business Core Values and ensuring they are being adhered to
* Sharing best practice within the department
* Liaising with management team to ensure reporting systems are up to date
* Ensuring timely turnaround of quotations and delivery that meets customer expectations and SLAs
* Assisting to the growth of the department with an innovate and creative approach to new opportunities
Requirements and skills
* Problem solving and negotiation skills are essential
* Familiarity with multi trade estimating is essential
* Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications
* Collaboration and communication to all within the department and business
* Ability to integrate into a team as well as work independently
* Good IT ability with an analytical mindset
* Ability to embrace relevant software and systems.
* Previous experience with estimating software is desirable but not essential
