Your Role and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful financial delivery of projects. Responsibilities include:
* Variation Management: Accurately assess and manage contract variations, ensuring compliance with agreements and minimizing disputes.
* Package Management: Oversee individual packages of work valued up to £2 million, ensuring budgets, timelines, and quality standards are met.
* Account Settlements: Prepare and settle subcontractor and client accounts in a timely and professional manner.
* Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key contact for stakeholders, handling phone calls and queries confidently while maintaining strong relationships.
* Reporting and Analysis: Use Microsoft Excel and other tools to produce detailed cost reports, forecasts, and financial documentation.
* Support Functions: Assist the senior commercial team with cost estimation, procurement, and budgeting activities.

* Experience with a Tier 1 Contractor: Familiarity with high-value projects and established processes.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer literacy.

* Analytical Mindset: Strong numerical skills and attention to detail to identify and resolve issues promptly.
* Commercial Acumen: A good understanding of contracts, variations, and cost management.
* Adaptability: Able to manage workloads effectively in a site-based role and work collaboratively with the wider project team.
Qualifications and Experience:
* A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
* 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor or within a similar large-scale construction environment.
* Experience managing subcontractor accounts and packages up to £2 million in value.
