Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Estate Management Team, working on our extensive let portfolio across Cumbria and North Lancashire.
You’ll lead the approach to managing a large and varied portfolio including residential, holiday cottages, commercial, and agricultural properties which are occupied by our tenants. Principally working on historic and listed buildings, you’ll be a key influence in helping guide and prepare our let buildings to meet future challenges.
Internally you’ll be known as Senior Let Estate Building Surveyor.

We’re one of the leading experts in the care and maintenance of historic buildings and offer significant opportunities for CPD and Building Conservation accreditation and supporting other building maintenance colleagues going through their career development.
Your contractual location will be our Grasmere Hub and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office at least once a week. However, there is flexibility on where you’re based at other times. You’ll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing
As the technical buildings lead in our multi-disciplinary and friendly team, you’ll be delivering high level planned and reactive maintenance over a three-year budget settlement and delivering an excellent service to our customers.
The role will also require you to manage or be the client for a variety of conservation construction projects up to, and occasionally over, the value of £1m. Supporting the professional development of a small team of building supervisors, you’ll play a pivotal role in preparing our let estate portfolio for the future.
Who we're looking for

• a qualification in surveying or architecture (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent) • financial acumen and strong experience of managing programmes and budgets• demonstrable leadership skills in the profession and an interest in helping colleagues develop• knowledge of historic building conservation, including procurement, maintenance, repair, and asset and contract management• an understanding of relevant legislation and best practice• experience in delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary environment and • confidence working at pace across a wide client base
