Job Description

About you

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for targeting new customers and driving sales of analytical services that support the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry across all phases of product development and commercialisation. These services will be delivered from one of our Centre of Excellences within the UK which includes specialised inhaled and nasal product development and manufacture with associated analytical testing as well as the design and delivery of analytical solutions to support the characterisation and quality control (including stability assessment) of biological, DNA/RNA, cell & gene or vaccine-based therapeutics.

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience of selling services within the Life Sciences sector with a proven track record of sales success.
  • Excellent presentation skills and confidence in negotiating contracts and driving the sales process.
  • Happy to travel as required to meet clients or attend industry events.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and happy to work autonomously prioritising your own workload.
  • A proven ability to develop both internal and external relationships.
  • Good IT literacy and experience of working with a CRM.
  • Technical background in pharmaceutical analytics is desirable.

About the opportunity

You will manage the preparation, testing, reporting and outgoing of samples for sorting, filing and management of both electronic and hard copy documents. In addition, you will engage in a wide range of laboratory and administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective technical support is provided.

Key activities:

  • Developing and implementing strategic sales plans to meet individual and team sales targets.
  • Identifying and targeting potential customers within pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries over a global footprint who would benefit from our vast array of solutions.
  • Working with the technical and operational teams to prepare high quality quotations and proposals in response to client program needs.
  • Negotiating with clients and driving wins.
  • Gaining and maintaining up to date market intelligence to identify industry trends and future /current needs.
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships and understanding of their future strategy and individual decision-making processes.
  • Representation of Intertek at key industry events and over time gain/expand a thorough understanding of the science behind our solutions and the science the industry needs.
  • Maintaining data on company CRM to ensure visibility to all opportunities.
