Location: Oxfordshire
Job Type: Full time, 40 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum

Amber Therapeutics are looking for a diligent and hard-working Engineering Technician to join our growing team in a brand-new role assisting manufacturing and development engineers in the design, development and validation of active implantable medical device products. This is a hybrid role working at our Welwyn Garden City site (2-3 times per week), and then based fully onsite at our new custom-built site in Harwell, Oxfordshire when the site opens in May 2025. Amber is a pioneering neuromodulation company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients through advanced medical technology.

The Role

As an Engineering Technician, you will support the engineering functions in qualifying, optimizing and overseeing the production and test processes to ensure the timely and cost-effective manufacturing of products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, developing equipment, implementing process improvements, and maintaining quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the engineering and production teams to ensure that production and customer requirements are achieved.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and product development teams to resolve product or process issues.
• Develop and oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of production equipment.
• Investigating and resolving issues related to process inefficiencies, equipment malfunctions, or quality control problems.
• Ensure that processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Implementing measures to mitigate risks and hazards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and changes for reference and compliance purposes.
• Carry out maintenance and calibration functions on manufacturing and test equipment.
• Support the qualification and implementation of new processes and equipment.
• Support the validation teams by carrying out technical functions, assembling test specimens, and testing; ensuring that records are compiled as required.
• Responsible for department related QMS documents, policies, forms.
• Ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures and flagging concerns in accordance with risk management procedures.

Skills & Experience

• Technical qualification in mechanical engineering or electronics
• Demonstrable experience in production support, machine maintenance or calibration
• Experience of moulding, laser welding or soldering processes is desirable
• Experience of electronic assembly and test is advantageous

The successful candidate should have demonstrable practical skills within production support, strong attention to detail and the ability to work successfully both within a team and independently. With a good work ethic, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. Knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly & testing would be beneficial.
