Job Description
Our client, a principal building contractor based in South Leicestershire, is looking to recruit an experienced construction Senior Estimator to join their successful pre contract team on a permanent basis.
The Client:
Specialise in a wide range of projects up to £5/6 million in value comprising refurbishments, extensions and new build projects across multiple sectors including commercial, education and health care.
The Role:
As the Senior Estimator you will be responsible for the compiling of true nett cost tenders, working on multiple tenders at any one time.
The ability to recognise and understand the logistics and associated issues in build-ability, as well as identifying opportunities to offer value-engineering solutions is critical in the works they tender.
Key duties of the Senior Estimator include:
* Assessment of tender enquiries and identifying potential supply chain
* Compiling and issuing subcontract and supplier enquiries
* Assessment and aligning of subcontract quotations
* Calculation of nett tender cost
* Pricing of contract preliminaries
* Compiling Contractor’s Proposals / Tender Deliverables documents
* Timely submission of tender returns
* Train and mentor junior Estimators
Skills & Experience required from the Senior Estimator include:
* 5 years+ main contractor estimator experience
* High level of experience in Design & Build tendering and scope compilation
* Good understanding of 1st principle estimating
* Experience in 2-stage tendering
* Good understanding and ability to compile tender stage, critical path programmes and Risk Registers
* Ideally degree qualified in a related subject (not essential)
* Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Project advantageous)
* Excellent communication and team work skills
* Excellent time management skills
* Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Driving licence
