Senior Structural Engineer
Derby

Calibre Search are working alongside a professional Civil and Structural Consultancy providing design services across the UK. With offices across the Midlands, operating since 1975, they have been providing high quality detailed technical design on projects UK wide. Their client base includes other professionals, such as architects, developers, fabricators and provide building owners. Due to a surge in workload, they are looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer to their busy office in the Centre of Derby

The projects they work on are very diverse and generally challenging, incorporating bespoke new build structures, refurbishment and heritage works. One of their core values is re-use and sustainable engineering design and they are experts in efficient and sustainable new-build projects. They have designed residential developments, tree houses, badger sets, eco houses, river alterations and remodelled museums which gives some idea of their design versatility.

Possessing a detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using all relevant UK and European codes of practice, you will be responsible for producing preliminary design solutions and reviewing with clients as part of design strategy and producing detailed designs, calculations and specifications and technical reviews. You will attend design, project progress, and client engagement meetings and be expected to liaise with contractors, clients, third party organisations and stakeholders, answering queries in relation to technical detailing

As well as complying with designers' duties under the CDM Regulations, you will produce sketches, drawings and writing structural appraisal reports. You will have a knowledge of BREEAM, sustainability objectives and embodied carbon. You will be able to design in all forms of construction including steelwork, reinforced / precast concrete, masonry and timber and also carry out structural appraisals of commercial, industrial and residential structures.

To succeed in this role you will have sound experience in a wide variety of Structural Engineering projects and have experienced complex and challenging structural designs from conception to completion.

You will either be a Chartered or near-chartered status with a relevant body (MICE or MIStructE) and possess a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in civil and structural engineering within a UK Consultancy environment.
