Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the power industry, with specific experience working on projects related to the National Grid or similar high-voltage transmission systems. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a minimum of 5 years of experience to contribute to the continued success of our energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design & Analysis: Develop and review electrical designs for high-voltage transmission systems, substations, and associated equipment.
* Project Management: Oversee the execution of electrical engineering projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
* System Integration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of electrical systems with existing National Grid infrastructure.
* Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for electrical systems, with a focus on improving reliability and performance.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards, and health & safety regulations. Adhere to National Grid’s operational requirements and safety protocols.
* Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and technical documentation for project stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer, with specific involvement in National Grid or similar power infrastructure projects.
* In-depth knowledge of high-voltage systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, and other key electrical infrastructure components.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., National Grid specifications, IEC, BS standards).
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) from a recognized institution.
* Experience with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerWorld) is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
* Experience with commissioning, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage equipment.
* Knowledge of renewable energy integration and smart grid technology is a plus.
