Job Description
Commercial Manager - Retaining Walls, Architectural and Erosion Control Markets.
Salary - Dependant on experience
Location: Tutbury (No home working in contract – 1day per week TBC)
8.30-5pm Monday to Friday
25 days Holiday + bank holidays
Role is office based. Site / Client visits would be rare, i.e. half a dozen times pa
Large projects will be handled by the Lead Commercial Manager
A niche contracting company with global work stretching as far as Africa, are looking for a commercial manager to join their year on year growth and success. They operate in the in the retaining wall, architectural, garden and erosion control markets.
Job Overview:
A customer facing role, focused on negotiating and closing contracts with a range of clients ranging from landscapers & groundworkers, up to Teir 1 construction contractors. Role must be commercially focused to maximise profit during initial negotiations and throughout the construction phase in conjunction with the Construction Manager, ensuring project delivery on time and in budget, whilst dealing with the client to manage variations for maximum profit.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
* Review, manage, and support all tender enquiries with the estimating team.
* Coordinate workload with colleagues in estimating team
* Direct and manage OTP projects up to an agreed value threshold, thereafter.
* Support the Commercial Manager/Director with high value and/or complex projects.
* Work closely with Construction and Technical Teams to price works accurately.
* Attend Pre-start meetings where required – this may require site attendance.
* Organise and manage procurement process from contract negotiation through to commencement on site, including dealing with key suppliers
* Manage commercials on all ongoing construction projects including monthly valuations.
* Assist with requirements for Variation Orders
* Work alongside the Compliance Director to agree sub-contract terms and conditions.
* Any other duties as reasonably required.
Ideal Experience & Qualifications
Essential
* Commercial negotiation experience in a construction environment
* Experience of retaining walls or ground working contractors
Desirable
* Degree qualified or similar relevant trade qualifications
* Knowledge of JCT / NEC3 contracts
