Job Description
THE ROLE
Estimator specifically experienced in roads & sewers and groundworks for new build housing developers.
To support the Estimating Department by preparation of groundworks tenders to the value of £20m.
The tender packages received are in the form of drawings and specifications; therefore, this role will encompass a large proportion of measurement.
Comprehensive review of tender scope and information and associated raising of RFIs.
Undertake site visits and risk analysis.
Interpret ground conditions from Site Investigation reports.
Take-off and measurement using 2D & 3D software along with spreadsheet templates; including but not limited to:
S104 Adoptable sewers & drainage
S38 Adoptable carriageways
S278 Adoptable highway works
Earthworks modelling
Residential dwellings substructure from footing to floor slab
External works
Private drainage and attenuation
Obtain supplier & subcontractor quotations.
Review outputs and programme requirements with Contracts Managers.
Building rates from first principles.
BQ preparation.
Prepare tender adjudication and submission documents for review by the Managing Estimator.
THE CANDIDATE
3 years minimum working in a similar groundworks / civils environment.
Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to integrate well with a small team of collaborative Estimators.
Understanding of traditional groundworks activities including construction of roads and sewers, foundation and substructure, earthworks etc.
Ability to assess scope of work from drawings and specifications.
Ability to interpret ground conditions from Site Investigation reports.
Proven take-off and measurement skills.
Ability to build rates from first principles.
Ability to prepare BQ in readiness for submission.
Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, the use of Microsoft Excel at a proficient level is an essential requirement.
Organised with the ability to work effectively under pressure to strict deadlines.
Understands the importance of maintaining excellent working relationships with the company’s clients.
Working knowledge of estimating software such as Causeway / ConQuest desirable
