Location: Newcastle
Salary: £87 - £108 per day

Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

GSL Education are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join our client secondary school in Newcastle. This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a real difference by working closely with students, helping them overcome challenges, and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting, you will work alongside dedicated staff to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, encouraging positive behaviour, academic engagement, and personal growth. This role is pivotal in providing students with a safe and inclusive environment to help them reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
Assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored lessons and learning activities.
Encourage positive behaviour and implement strategies to support students’ emotional well-being.
Collaborate with the teaching team to develop individualised support plans.
Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other staff.
Requirements:
Experience or strong interest in working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
Patience, resilience, and adaptability to work effectively with students facing challenges.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
