We’re looking for a Market Unit Director to join our team in Rungis, France
Westfalia Fruit, a global leader in fresh produce, is seeking an exceptional Market Unit Director to drive commercial growth, lead high-performing teams, and deliver outstanding results in the French market. Based in Rungis, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact, managing profit and loss (P&L), developing strategic plans, and spearheading market expansion across retail, wholesale, and hospitality sectors.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies tailored to local market trends and aligned with European objectives.
- Take full ownership of the P&L for the French market, driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Lead and inspire a dynamic sales team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Build and strengthen relationships with national retailers and key partners, negotiating and closing high-value contracts.
- Drive market expansion through innovative sales strategies, product launches, and business development initiatives.
- Oversee operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with health, safety, and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate with European leadership and cross-functional teams to align local operations with regional and global strategies.
- Provide insightful reports and analytics to monitor performance and refine strategic initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working within a similar role, leading a successful sales team.
- In-depth knowledge of the fresh produce industry.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets within a high-pressure environment.
- Prior experience negotiating and closing contracts with national retailers.
- Strong rapport building skills.
- Demonstrable initiative-taking and innovative problem-solving abilities.
- Skilled negotiator with commercial and financial acumen.
- Fluent in English & French; any additional European languages would be beneficial.
