ABAP Consultant - SAP Implementation & Support

This is a full time opportunity for a Tech Consulting company with their offices in Bengaluru and Kolkata. - Relevant experience in ABAP - 5 to 8 years - Base location - Kolkata - Work from Office, 5 days a week - Exposure in ECC Support and atleast 1 implementation project - Joining timeline - Immediate to 15 days Job Description : We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SAP ABAP Developer to join our team for an exciting S/4HANA Implementation Project. In this role, you will work closely with business analysts, functional consultants, and technical teams to deliver high-quality, customized solutions within the SAP S/4HANA environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ABAP programming and SAP S/4HANA development, along with a proven track record of supporting SAP implementations. Key Responsibilities : ABAP Development & Customization : - Design, develop, test, and deploy custom ABAP code and enhancements to meet the business requirements in the SAP S/4HANA environment. - Develop custom reports, interfaces, forms, BADI implementations, and user exits. - Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical specifications for ABAP development. - Optimize ABAP code for performance and scalability within the S/4HANA environment. S/4HANA Integration : - Work with the SAP team to integrate ABAP developments with various S/4HANA modules (such as Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, etc.). - Leverage Fiori/UI5 for developing custom user interfaces that integrate seamlessly with the SAP backend. - Implement and maintain SAP Gateway for OData services and other integration protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP). SAP HANA-Specific Development : - Work with the S/4HANA database to implement efficient data retrieval and reporting using ABAP on the HANA platform. - Utilize HANA-specific features such as CDS views, AMDP, and HANA procedures to optimize the development process. Code Reviews & Testing : - Perform unit testing and support functional testing during the project lifecycle. - Conduct peer code reviews to ensure best practices and adherence to SAP development standards. - Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure high-quality deliverables. Documentation & Support : - Create and maintain technical documentation for ABAP programs, enhancements, and custom objects. - Provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting for SAP applications and custom developments. - Provide technical assistance to other team members when needed. Continuous Improvement & Innovation : - Stay updated on the latest developments in SAP S/4HANA and ABAP technologies. - Proactively suggest improvements to optimize development processes and enhance system performance. Requirements : Education & Experience : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an SAP ABAP Developer, with at least 1 year of experience working on SAP S/4HANA implementations or upgrades. - Strong experience in ABAP development, including classical ABAP, Web Dynpro, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). - Experience with Fiori/UI5 development and integration is a plus. Technical Skills : - Proficiency in ABAP, ABAP on HANA (AMDP, CDS Views), and SAP Gateway for OData services. - Experience with SAP S/4HANA modules (such as FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, or others) and integration with ABAP developments. - Knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5, SAP Cloud Platform, or SAP Integration Suite is desirable. - Experience with SAP performance optimization, debugging, and troubleshooting. - Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and development methodologies (e.g., Agile). Soft Skills : - Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. - Strong analytical and debugging skills. Preferred Qualifications : - Certification in SAP ABAP or S/4HANA development is a plus. - Familiarity with SAP Fiori/UI5, SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), or related technologies is beneficial. - Experience with Agile/Scrum project methodologies is preferred.
