Head of Data & Insight – Maternity Leave Cover
The Head of Data & Insight plays a key role in acting as the primary decision-maker for enabling the ETF to treat Data as a strategic asset, including legacy, current and future customer data, held across all of ETF’s technology stack. This role will also be responsible for building ‘data by design’ into ETF processes, technology implementation, government contracts and future commercialisation of products and services and supporting the Associate Director of Digital, Data and Technology to deliver the overall aims and objectives of the department as their deputy.
Your Profile:
- Responsible for the management of ETF’s Data Strategic Plan including data, CRM and analytics roadmaps with a 12-month plan of deliverables.
- Review ETF’s D365 CRM to ensure the appropriateness of the system against ETF’s aims and direction. Project manage a CRM health and viability project to ensure ongoing suitability.
- Ensure technology, applications and databases processing customer data are always GDPR and DfE compliant, with support from the DPO.
- Orchestrate data governance activities across the ETF and be responsible for managing data governance standards and processes to support fast paced and trustworthy delivery.
- Be responsible for the Data budget within DDaT, including budgeting, and supporting the monthly management account process.
- Set ambitious and measurable data objectives and deliverables for the Data & Insight Team, implementing mechanisms for continuous improvement and regular reviews with all team members as well as the overall team performance.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven leadership and people management experience, preferably gained either in the FE or not-for-profit sectors
- Experience of relational databases (e.g., D365 CRM or similar software) and content/learning management systems (e.g., Umbraco, Moodle)
- A track record of success in delivering outcomes and beneficial change through data and insight
- Experience of formulating operational strategy including KPIs (key performance indicators) and reporting on these
- Experience of prioritising a varied workload and working to tight deadlines
- Proven experience to translate data and information into actionable insights tailored for stakeholder interests
- Able to understand and analyse technical issues in relation to database management
- Comprehensive understanding of the Data Protection Act and GDPR and its application, ideally in a professional membership body, CPD and learning environment

- Starting Salary: £60,300 per annum to start, with service and performance related progression
- Contract type: Full-time and Fixed term until March 2026
- Location: London, Victoria
