Job opportunity: Van rental and Hire Manager

As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced Van Rental and Hire Manager to join our dynamic team and lead our automotive operations to new heights.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a results driven and motivated, Van hire and hire Manager with experience in fleet management, vehicle hire services, rental management, and leading a team of automotive professionals. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our fleet while overseeing the efficient management of our vehicle hire and body shop services. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a deep understanding of automotive operations, capable of optimizing workflows, managing resources, and driving continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

Fleet & Vehicle Hire Management:

  • Oversee the acquisition, utilization, and maintenance of a diverse fleet of vehicles to meet business needs.
  • Manage vehicle hire operations, oversee the maintenance and utilization of our van fleet, optimizing availability and performance.
  • Continually ensure high standards of safety and reliability.
  • Consistently monitor for vehicle fines, required MOT’s/servicing, and damage management.

Divisional leadership and management:

  • Lead the strategic development and operational management of the van hire division, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts for parts, materials, and services.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all the automotive operations.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of automotive engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Develop training programs to enhance skills and ensure the team remains up to date with the latest automotive technologies.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and high performance within the department.
  • Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews to ensure the team meets operational goals.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in fleet management and vehicle hire operations.
  • Strong background in dealership management, including repair processes, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience managing and developing a team of automotive professional from body shop to sales teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Analytically minded, proven experience in analysing performance and finance reports and identifying opportunities to drive profitability and business improvements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality service to clients.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.

What’s on offer:

Location: Wigan

Job Type: Full-Time, permanent

Salary: up to £60,000 dependent on experience plus a company perks such performance based bonus and more!
