The organisation is a global leader in defense electronics and delivers mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare and surveillance across land, sea and air.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced project manager to lead one of our Laser Projects from advanced development through to full rate production delivery.
You would be working within the Advanced Lasers IPT in the Advanced Targeting Sector of RATs. We design, deliver and support a portfolio of advanced laser products across an expanding international customer base.
You will have the opportunity to learn from and influence the existing project management community within the IPT, promoting best practice and continuous improvements that will challenge and evolve your personal leadership skills.
What you will do:
As part of an established team and customer requirement, you shall be responsible for:
- Owning and evolving the project business case, maximising the business benefits and customer satisfaction.
- Primary interface with the Customer’s project organisation, supported by Commercial and Technical Leads as necessary.
- Leading the multi-disciplinary team across all phases of project execution.
- Owning and evolving the integrated project schedule to deliver the contractual and business commitments.
- Managing the project costs within approved budgets.
- Managing bids for any changes in project scope.
- Capturing and managing risks or opportunities impacting performance, time or cost requirements.
- Capturing and resolving issues impacting performance, time or cost requirements.
- Management information reporting of project progress and performance to internal and external stakeholders through established forums.
- Adherence to business processes, security and lifecycle governance requirements.
- Contributing to employee feedback (Glint Survey) analysis and implementing action plans to address identified areas of weakness.
What we need from you:
You shall be able to demonstrate competencies commensurate to the Lead Project Management role, in particular:
- Demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively and build good working relationships throughout the team, supporting functions, senior management and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrating a results focused attitude with attention to detail on the enablers and blockers influential to project success.
- Demonstrating self-motivation to get things done and to influence others.
You shall ideally be degree qualified in an engineering or business related discipline complimented by an Association for Project Management (APM) professional qualification or equivalent.
You shall have proven experience of project management roles ideally in the Defence equipment environment, in particular:
- Experience of project estimating and planning in line with company practices.
- Experience of financial monitoring, control and reporting in line company practices.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams and influencing supporting functions and stakeholders.
- Experience of SAP project and production systems, understanding how to update and interrogate underlying SAP data.
- Understanding of project security controls.
- Understanding of export compliance regulations.
