In the role as Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the team, developing improvements to our SAF 3D printers based on world-leading piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet technologies and working on the design of future 3D Printers.
The Mechanical Engineer will lead the mechanical development of 3D printers, focusing on robust design, manufacturability, and serviceability. You will optimize and drive the overall machine design, including complex modules, while supporting R&D and customer support teams with tools and features. This role is based in our Stratasys Nottingham office.
What you will be doing:
· Producing details of specifications and outline designs
· Developing, testing, and evaluating theoretical designs
· Developing project specifications with colleagues, often including those from other engineering
disciplines
· Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors,
suppliers and customers
· Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified
operating environments
· Planning and designing production processes
· Recommending modifications following prototype test results
· Producing low-cost designs and solutions to meet cost targets
· Participate in freedom to operate analysis and patent filing processes
Must have for this role:
- CAD super user
- 4+yrs Design and development of products involving precision custom mechanical components and the integration of electronics and/or fluidics
- · Completion of at least one product development cycle, from concept through full design and development to successful marked introduction and customer support
- 3 yrs experience Manufacturing methods for both rapid prototyping and mass production
- • Experience with DFM, DFA, DFS, DFX
Nice to have:
- Experience with manufacturing methods for both rapid prototyping and mass production
- Electronics design competencies
- Travel required:25% or less
