Job Description

Are you an ambitious and visionary leader with a passion for delivering holistic, trauma-informed services?

The rehabilitation and recovery charity we are working with is looking for its next CEO to provide inspiring leadership and steer the organisation on the next exciting phase of its journey. Bringing belief, hope and long-term recovery across the South West and Wales, the charity supports people affected by trauma, living with multiple layers of disadvantage and substance use. The charity's hallmark is a values-led and trauma-informed approach that centres client needs at the heart of every decision.

Salary: £100-110k per annum
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week, full time
Location: Hybrid, working across the region (head office in Stroud and locations across South West & Wales), willingness to travel and work flexibly to meet business and geographical needs
Benefits: 30 days holiday, 6 % employer pension contribution, enhanced maternity and sickness
Culture: Supportive, flexible and values-led

About the charity

The charity has grown rapidly in recent years and now provides an increasingly wide range of services, including their celebrated gender-specific work via women's centres and women-only residential rehabilitation houses (which currently makes up around 90% of delivery), as well as rehabilitation, therapy, education and training for all genders.

With the support of an engaged and proactive Board, as well as an incredibly passionate staff team, you'll drive the charity forward with values-led leadership and clarity of vision. Current income sits at £11 million with approximately 250 staff. The charity has a complex funding structure, mostly made up of contract income and additional support from fundraised activity with ambition to continue to diversify.

About the role

As incoming CEO, you'll be tasked with developing a new five-year strategic plan (2025-2030) that ensures the charity's sustainability and continued commitment to excellence and innovation. You'll also ensure the charity is placed firmly on the map, as a respected voice and advocate at local, regional and national policy-making level.

The organisation's effectiveness and impact relies on the depth and quality of its partnerships, forged and embedded across a wide geography with national and local governments, agencies and communities.

About you

This is an absolutely vital recruit for the charity, so we're looking for someone with confidence and capability across a range of essential criteria. We are open to someone with previous experience at this level, or someone stepping into their first CEO role.

Here are key elements on our 'essential' list, we'd encourage you to consider how you meet each one:

  • Significant leadership experience (within a multi-million pound organisation) delivering person-centred and trauma-informed services.
  • Emotionally intelligent leader with a motivating leadership style.
  • Skilled and passionate builder of teams, creating an environment where people can thrive.
  • Leads by example, embodying and embedding values throughout.
  • Knowledge and expertise in securing charity sector contracts and fundraising.
  • Confident external advocate, welcomes and encourages collaborative outreach.
  • Strong track-record of engaging and partnering with multiple stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding and ability to develop robust governance frameworks that maximise operational efficiency and excellence.

Of course, we'll need to see passion, commitment and ambition for the charity's ethos too.

There's so much potential to make a big impact here. If we've captured your imagination, then we'd love you to get in touch.

To apply, all you need to do is send a copy of your CV or profile to Amelia Lee as the first step. We'll be back in touch with further details on the application process, providing your experience meets the brief.

Closing date: 9am on Wednesday 11th December
Interviews: TBC, likely to be early to mid January
