Salary: £58,630 - £68,098and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Operational Outage Planning Engineer to join our team!
An Operational Outage Planning Engineer in CMI will be responsible for agreeing and planning all outage requirements on the electricity network up to and including 132kV (EHV), ensuring our Engineers are able to plan their work and operate the network. They conduct power system analysis and put in place contingencies in the event of a fault.
The role balances network access for both capital and revenue work while ensuring secure customer supplies and supporting OFGEM's incentives.
We are looking for someone with excellent planning and organisational skills and great communication skills.
Other roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Work with CMIWD, NMC, and partners to safely deliver projects with minimal network impact.
- Evaluate network risks, gather data, and report to senior management on outage needs and contingency plans.
- Actively ensure health, safety and environmental risks are mitigated when altering the EHV network arrangement and provide support and technical advice during system emergencies.
- Ensure the SSE Distribution Network performs in compliance with codes and carry out a wide range of simulations and studies to ensure obligations are met.
- Provide support to project delivery teams during commissioning and construction outages.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar experience, ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Knowledge of electricity network design, operation, protection, and safety.
- Familiar with statutory and regulatory requirements, industry codes, and engineering standards.
- Able to use Power System Analysis software and understand electrical theory.
- Capable of analysing large data volumes and presenting results clearly.
