Job Title: Project Manager – Site Based (Northern Department – Glasgow)
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £80,000 plus package (car allowance, fuel, 25 days annual leave, annual bonus and health care)
About the Role:
A well-established services and maintenance principal contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Northern Department in Glasgow. This site-based role involves supporting a variety of small to medium-sized projects, with occasional larger, complex projects, valued between £10k and £1M. Working closely with a visiting Contracts Manager, the ideal candidate will bring extensive main contractor experience and strong expertise in managing Mechanical, Electrical, Fit-Out, and Civil project packages.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
* Oversee MEP, Civil, and Fit-Out projects from conception to handover, ensuring high standards and successful closeout.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, including designers, architects, estimators, project commercial teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Confidently chair meetings, drive outcomes, and produce accurate records of discussions, actions, and deadlines.
Project Management:
* Develop and manage project schedules, proactively identifying risks and ensuring milestones are met.
* Create and deliver regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
* Conduct on-site dilapidations, validations, and manage submissions, RFIs, and technical queries.
Commercial Acumen:
* Be commercially astute, aware of contract terms, and capable of identifying risks, managing variations, and liaising with quantity surveyors to protect the business’s commercial interests.
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts is desirable.
Leadership & Compliance:
* Promote HSEQ best practices, adhering to company policies, ISO accreditations, and legislative requirements.
* Understand CDM Regulations and the responsibilities of a Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
Strategic Contribution:
* Represent the company’s vision, values, and work ethic, contributing to business growth through identifying opportunities for upselling and cost-saving measures.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a Main Contractor role, with a proven track record in managing MEP, Civil, and Fit-Out projects.
* Location: Reside within a 20-mile / 30-minute commute of Glasgow City Centre.
* Certifications:
* Full driving license, CSCS Card, SMSTS qualification.
* Enhanced qualifications in management, technical authoring, IOSH Managing Safely, or a degree are desirable.
* First Aid Trained, DBS Check (to be completed upon appointment if not current).
