Job Title: Quantity Surveyor - North Yorkshire
Location: North Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £55k + Car Allowance (or EV Car) + Excellent Bonuses + 26 Days Holiday + Option to Buy/Sell Up to 5 Days + Pension + Healthcare
Contract Type: Permanent
Framework Duration: 10-12 years across 4 major schemes, with the 1st scheme due to start enabling works January 2025
About the Role:
We are pleased to present an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK’s leading and most highly regarded Main Contractors, with a strong reputation for delivering large-scale, high-value projects across the country. The company has recently secured a place on a prestigious framework in the North of England, which will deliver major schemes ranging from £80m to £450m over the next 8-12 years.
To support the delivery of the first project within this framework, the company is looking to expand its Commercial Team by recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor.
Project Overview:
The first project within the framework is a large mixed-use development, consisting of multiple buildings on a single site. This exciting project provides the opportunity to work on a complex, high-profile development, with long-term career prospects within a growing, stable, and well-regarded business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with NEC Option C contract terms.
* Oversee cost management, including valuations, cost reporting, and forecasting.
* Work closely with the project team and client stakeholders to ensure that project objectives are achieved.
* Provide commercial advice and support to senior management and the project teams.
* Assist in the procurement process, including subcontractor management and tendering.
* Negotiate contracts and manage variations to ensure profitability and effective risk management.
About You:
* Proven experience in a commercial role with a main contractor, ideally on medium to large-scale construction projects.
* Strong knowledge and experience working with NEC forms of contract is ideal but NOT essential
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
* A proactive, results-driven approach with a strong focus on cost control and attention to detail.
* Degree level qualification in relative field e.g BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying
