Job Description

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Bristol, UK (Hybrid – in-office 2 days per week)

Up to £70,000

At Spicy Minds, we’re on a mission to change the future of mental health for young people and their families, especially those navigating the complexities of neurodivergence. We’re not just a tech company; we’re a movement. Driven by a purpose that reaches beyond profit, we’re creating tools to empower Gen Z to take control of their mental health and wellbeing in a way that’s meaningful, accessible, and lasting.

If you’re a talented engineer who’s passionate about social impact and mental wellness, this could be the role you’ve been looking for. We’re at an exciting stage where we’re scaling our proof-of-concept apps into powerful, user-centred platforms that will make mental health resources available for those who need it most. And as a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of this transformation.

What It Means to Join Spicy Minds

Imagine coming to work each day knowing that the code you write will make a direct impact on young people’s lives. You’ll be shaping tools designed to empower users and provide support through some of life’s toughest moments. You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive team that believes that mental health is as essential as physical health—and that technology has a role to play in making it accessible to all.

This is more than just a job. It's a chance to be part of a mission to create a real, lasting difference.

The Impact You’ll Make

As part of our core team, you’ll be integral in turning ideas into reality. You’ll take our prototype apps and develop them into robust, scalable, user-focused tools that reach people where they are. You’ll work closely with our designers, product managers, and other engineers to ensure that what we create doesn’t just work well but works meaningfully.

  • Develop and Optimise: You’ll build, maintain, and enhance mobile apps, server-side logic, and databases, making sure that every user interaction is smooth, supportive, and built with mental wellness in mind.
  • Lead CI/CD Processes: As part of our commitment to quality, you’ll oversee CI/CD pipelines that keep our software running smoothly and our updates seamless.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: We’re all in this together, and you’ll work closely with designers and product managers to bring intuitive, compassionate experiences to life.
  • Quality Assurance: Reliability and security are essential in our work. You’ll write clean, maintainable code that sets a high bar for quality and performance.
  • Problem-Solve in Real Time: Our apps are there for users when they need them most. You’ll be responsible for real-time troubleshooting and maintenance to ensure our services are dependable.
  • Shape the Future: You’ll contribute to key decisions on tech roadmap, architecture, and tools, helping to establish the foundation of a company dedicated to mental health for years to come.

What We’re Looking For

If you have 5+ years of experience in software development, particularly mobile applications, and a deep commitment to building tech for good, we’d love to hear from you.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Flutter, Python, Firebase, and Node.js or similar tech stacks. Experience with CI/CD and familiarity with large language models (LLMs) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communicator who can bridge technical and non-technical teams. Skilled in mentoring and ready to take on technical leadership.
  • Mindset: A self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK, with a commitment to 2 days per week in our Bristol office
  • A clean DBS check

Why Spicy Minds?

  • Mission-Driven Culture: Work with a team that believes in making a difference.
