SEND Teaching Assistant) - Behaviour Mentor - Uxbridge
Job Location
Uxbridge, United Kingdom
Job Description
TITLE: Behaviour mentors and learning support assistants needed to work in PRU’s and behavioural units across London.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Principal Education are seeking hard-working and enthusiastic educators, passionate about making a positive impact on the academic and social development of children, to work as behaviour mentors and learning support assistants (LSA’s) in our PRU’s and behavioural units across London. PRU’s (pupil referral units) and behavioural units are alternative educational provisions, which typically provide tailored academic, emotional, and social support for small groups of children who are unable to access mainstream education. Many of the children assigned to these settings will have statements of SEN or behavioural challenges underlying their barriers to accessing mainstream educations, such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, dyspraxia etc.
As a behaviour mentor or LSA, you will be tasked with providing targeted support and guidance for pupils with severe behavioural, emotional, and often academic challenges; either within very small groups or on a 1:1 basis; both within the classroom as well as outside in a mentorship capacity. These roles require a full-time commitment from educators (Monday – Friday), to offer the consistency and continuity for the children that you will be supporting closely.
To be eligible for this role, you MUST:
Demonstrate the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Demonstrate the ability to support with creating a learning environment that effectively caters for pupils with special education needs and behavioural challenges.
Demonstrate patience, empathy, composure, and diligence; to help with building and maintaining an optimal and safe learning environment for vulnerable pupils.
Be flexible and adaptable, willing and able to think on your feet.
Possess a recent, enhanced copy of a DBS – or be willing to obtain one from Principal Education.
Possess an overseas police clearance from any country that you have resided in for six months or more within the last five years, outside of the United Kingdom.
Be based in a London borough, or within commutable distance - Uxbridge
Pay rates for work as a behaviour mentor or LSA in our PRU’s/behavioural units, typically range from £105 - £115 per day. However, if you secure an ongoing role in the one school, then we will aim to pay you a daily rate which aligns with the salaries offered by the respective school.
If you would like to discuss this role in more detail, as well as your suitability for it, please contact Ali on (url removed) or (phone number removed). NOTE: If you include an updated copy of your CV with your expression of interest, this will greatly enhance the quality of your application
