Job Description
A specialised Civil Engineering Sub Contractor are actively seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position based in the West of Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently started their QS journey and gain valuable experience within the Commercial team including running your own projects.
Our client:
* The client is a Sub Contractor working primarily within Civil Engineering & Marine projects;
* A long standing and family ran company focused on challenging and unique Engineering projects;
* With a responsible sustainability strategy, they invest significant time and effort to ensure safe working environments with minimal environmental impact;
* Due to on-going and future pending contracts, this is an excellent opportunity to lead the Commercial function at the company
What you’ll be doing:
* The successful candidates will work closely with project managers and engineers to support to multiple projects and manage costs across the business .
* Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients.
* Provide bid support for prequalification and tender packages.
* Manage subcontractor supplier accounts, financially and contractually. Monitor subcontractors against the programme. Negotiate final accounts.
* Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring that they meet the conditions of the contract (re-measure as required).
* Ensure payments to Sub Contractors and Supplier are made to the terms and work in progress cash targets.
* Ensure commercial compliance of current contracts, protecting the position of the company.
* Pricing work packages and cost forecasting
What you’ll need to be successful:
* The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified.
* Min 1 years Experience in heavy civil engineering projects.
* Ideally have previous NEC contract experience.
