Business Development Executive

Remote working - with a 2 days per month working in the Reading office

Membership Association

Basic Salary up to £40,000 dependant on experience with realistic on target earnings up to £55,000+

25 days holiday plus bank holidays, flexibility of working hours, your birthday off, Pension, life assurance, income protection scheme, health cash plan, EAP and PerkBox

35 Hours per week – Monday to Friday

2 days per month working in the Reading office/ as and when needed for meetings

Some international travel throughout the year


Our client a well-respected, globally recognised professional membership association is currently looking for a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Executive to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales and account management, with a focus on new business sales targets. This includes Corporate Membership and Sponsorship, Corporate Education, as well as Events and Research Sponsorships. Experience working within a membership body would be advantageous.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Opportunities: The candidate should actively pursue sales opportunities through inbound inquiries, networking/social media platforms like LinkedIn, and CRM.
  • Customer Meetings: The candidate should be able to organize and facilitate meetings with potential customers, understand their organizational needs, and identify the most suitable corporate solution. They should also contribute to proposal development and contract negotiation.
  • CRM Management: The candidate should proficiently use CRM for managing and tracking leads and opportunities ( Dynamics 365)
  • Renewal Tracking: The candidate should monitor renewals and minimize the lapsing of corporate members and sponsors.
  • Reporting: The candidate should provide monthly reports to the sales and marketing manager.
  • Re-engagement: The candidate should reach out to lapsed corporate members and sponsors to renew their memberships and/or sponsorships and identify opportunities for upselling.
  • Team Collaboration: The candidate should work in close coordination with the Marketing, Learning, and Membership teams to maximize corporate sales, and liaise with the Finance team to ensure adherence to the correct invoicing process.

  • Interpersonal Skills: The candidate should be adept at interacting with a diverse range of individuals, across different countries and organizational levels.
  • Collaboration Skills: The candidate should be capable of fostering a collaborative environment within the sales team and across the organization.
  • Organizational Skills: The candidate should demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, ensuring work is conducted in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Process Driven: The candidate should be someone who sees the value in a systematic and consistent approach to work, and leverages this to drive productivity and results. They should be excellent at ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Target Orientation: The candidate should be goal-driven, with a proven ability to meet and surpass targets.
  • IT Skills: The candidate should have excellent proficiency in IT tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and CRM systems.
  • Attention to Detail: The candidate should exhibit meticulous attention to detail and adherence to processes.
  • Proactivity and Problem-Solving: The candidate should be proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Empathy: The candidate should possess the ability to empathize with others, understanding and sharing their feelings.
