Category Manager (Contract)

Day Rate: £400-£500 per day

Summary:

A leading UK university is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Category Manager to join their procurement team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with the university's overall procurement objectives.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value enhancement.
• Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
• Lead sourcing events, such as tenders and RFIs, to select the most suitable suppliers based on quality, price, and service.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to understand their needs and ensure that procurement activities meet their requirements.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or Procurement Specialist in a higher education or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of procurement principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
