Job purpose
The main purpose of the role is to support the site in the preparation and management of all drawings within the engineering department as well as assisting in the data entry into the ERP system for any new equipment purchased. The long-term goal of the role is to be trained and developed such that the candidate can take on the drawing office management duties as part of our succession planning programme, but it will initially focus on the drawing production in adherence to company policies and standards.
Principal accountabilities
• Create design drawings (P+IDs/Isometrics/General arrangement drawings, adhering to company standards and protocols.
• Support the manage of any contract drafting resource
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are adequately resourced.
• To be proficient in the use of AutoCAD for the production of detailed layouts 2D & 3D, (AutoCAD Plant 3D would be an advantage.)
• Control and issue of site ELDs & concept designs to key stakeholders.
• Update the company ERP (Avantis) system with the entity information for any new items procured.
Scope
• Educational Background: HND or working towards that level of education in an engineering field.
• Demonstrable experience working in a relevant CAD role producing high quality 3D piping models, plant layout and piping isometric drawings.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative design team.
• Excellent general awareness of process piping components, routing practices, in line equipment and instrumentation interfaces.
• Ability to competently interpret Engineering line diagrams (P&IDs).
Special factors
• This role does not have line management responsibility but may supervise contract personnel and will deputise for the drawing office lead in their absence.
Person specification
Qualifications/ knowledge/experience
Experience of pipework and equipment design, with some structural/civil knowledge advantageous. Preferred
HND (Mechanical) or equivalent. Preferred
Experience in drawing production for an engineering discipline. Essential
Personal skills and key competencies
Enthusiastic, able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Essential
Able to problem solve on their own without distracting other members of the design team Essential
Can do attitude, with good Communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels Essential
