Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in commercial construction to join our growing team. This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role in the estimation and tendering process, ensuring that mechanical systems and services are accurately costed for commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical services for commercial construction projects.
* Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and associated costs.
* Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary pricing and information.
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effective solutions.
* Attend site visits and liaise with project managers and site teams to assess project requirements and ensure the accuracy of estimates.
* Assess project risks and provide mitigation strategies in the estimation process.
* Provide support in preparing tender submissions and negotiate with clients and suppliers to secure contracts.
* Maintain detailed records of estimates, project costs, and associated documentation.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, materials, and building regulations to ensure accurate pricing.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the commercial construction sector.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and services (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
* Excellent knowledge of cost estimation software and tools.
* Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
* Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
* Previous experience working with contractors, subcontractors, and clients within the commercial sector is highly desirable.
