Job Description

Quantity Surveyor Cookstown Competitive Salary, open to negotiation Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with expertise in electrical design and the manufacture of automation components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost management for electrical and automation projects, with a proven track record in delivering cost-effective solutions for design and manufacturing processes. You will work closely with design teams, engineers, and contractors to ensure the successful completion of projects within budget, schedule, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Develop and manage accurate cost estimates for electrical design and automation components, from initial concept through to project completion. Prepare detailed and competitive tender documentation based on project specifications and requirements. Provide expert cost analysis and prepare cost plans for electrical design, automation systems, and manufacturing components. Procurement & Contract Management: Oversee the procurement process, including managing supplier and subcontractor relationships, issuing tenders, and negotiating contracts for electrical and automation components. Monitor and manage project cash flows, ensuring timely invoicing and payments to suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contract terms, pricing schedules, and payment milestones. Project Cost Control & Reporting: Implement effective cost control mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered within budget. Prepare and present regular cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to senior management, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities. Perform value engineering and risk management assessments to optimize project cost efficiency. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and understanding of project scope and objectives. Work with design and technical teams to ensure that cost implications are considered during the development of electrical and automation designs. Resolve disputes and manage any claims or variations related to costs and contracts. Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements for electrical design and manufacturing processes. Review and verify the accuracy of designs, specifications, and contracts, ensuring all materials and components meet quality and performance standards. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost management processes, systems, and team performance. Key Requirements: Education & Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIQS) is preferred. Experience & Skills: Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on electrical design and manufacturing of automation components. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, automation components, and related manufacturing processes. Proven experience in cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and contract management for electrical and automation projects. In-depth understanding of industry standards, building regulations, and quality assurance procedures. Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project). Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design tools is an advantage. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to produce accurate reports and financial analysis. Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proactive, solution-focused, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
