Who You Are

You are an experienced solicitor, barrister, or chartered legal executive, holding a practicing certificate. You demonstrate strong competence in people management, leadership, and service improvement within a shared legal service environment, with an ability to manage transformational change. Your knowledge encompasses local government powers, duties, and at least one area of law such as civil litigation, procurement & contract, or planning and development, with specific expertise in employment issues. You possess strong decision-making skills, effective communication abilities, and can influence and negotiate effectively, guiding your team with confidence and integrity.

What the Job Involves

This role requires you to provide strategic legal advice and solutions to support councils in meeting corporate goals. You will handle a personal caseload as a subject expert, ensure high-risk matters are reported to senior colleagues, and support multidisciplinary strategic projects. Responsibilities include supervising junior team members, performing advocacy for your caseload, and attending council meetings to provide governance advice. You will be involved in various legal disciplines across multiple sites, occasionally working evenings or weekends. Your role is crucial in delivering quality legal services that anticipate customer needs while ensuring innovative and effective solutions.
