Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (High Voltage National Grid Projects)
Location: South East - Hybrid working between site & home
Contract: Permanent
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team, specializing in high voltage (HV) National Grid infrastructure projects. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing costs, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, and providing commercial support for complex HV transmission and distribution projects across the UK. Your expertise will ensure financial efficiency while maintaining compliance with National Grid standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare, review, and manage cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for high voltage projects, including substations, overhead lines, and cable installations.
* Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring accurate reporting and forecasting of project costs.
* Procurement management: Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing procurement processes.
* Cost management: Track variations, manage change control, and provide detailed cost analysis to ensure financial transparency.
* Provide regular commercial reports and updates to senior management and key stakeholders, including cash flow forecasts and risk analysis.
* Ensure compliance with National Grid contract terms, safety standards, and governance frameworks.
* Work closely with project planners, engineers, and the project management team to align financial and commercial objectives with project delivery.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in high voltage (HV) National Grid or infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of cost control, contract management, and project finance within HV construction.
* Familiarity with National Grid governance, safety standards, and contract frameworks.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, suppliers, and clients.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritizing workload to meet deadlines.
* Proficient in using industry-standard software for cost management and reporting.
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
* Professional membership such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent is desirable.
* Experience working on National Grid Transmission Owner (TO) or Distribution Network Operator (DNO) projects is highly advantageous.
