      • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart AssociationWho We Are:25 bed unitSpecializing in Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery, & ENTOur Neurosurgical team provides compassionate care to a unique and rewarding patient population. We are highly skilled in providing healing care to patients with neurological conditions such as spinal cord surgeries, brain surgeries, lumbar drains and neck dissections, and more. We utilize a skill mix of RNs, LPNs & PCAs on our unit. Our nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 (5 for both day & night shifts,) while our tech-to-patient ratio is 1:8 for days & 1:12 for nights. The Neurosurgical team works closely with our physician groups to ensure we are providing the best & most compassionate care to our patients. Communication skills, interpersonal skills, patience, & attention to detail are strengths/attributes we know help one be successful here. Our team caringly helps patients and families navigate through challenging life events through continued education and expert-level care. We are confident our Neurosurgical unit will provide a great foundation for someone looking to gain nursing experience in a Med Surg unit, as well as someone looking to provide care to a very specialized patient population. Teamwork is essential for our unit to run smoothly, and we pride ourselves on the sense of community that our coworkers curate.         • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart AssociationWho we are:Stroke PatientsSeizure PatientsMS PatientsBack, Head and Spinal Surgical PatientsPatients newly on Trachs -What Our Neuroscience Nurses DoCoordinate multiple IV medications, continuous infusions for pain, and other medication administration. - Work with specialized post-surgical equipment including tubes, lines, drains, and devices. - Serve as part of a multi-disciplinary care team including nursing, patient care associates, physicians, surgeons, PT/OT, respiratory therapists, chaplains, and others to identify the plan of care for each patient and ensure cohesive care to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient Utilize remote telemetry. Continue to participate in educational opportunities at the hospital and around St. Louis
            Coordinate and prioritize care with multi-disciplinary servicesEducates patients and their families on how to manage patient's illness or injuryAre part of a culture of continuous learning and growth, as well as incredible teamwork!12-hr shifts with the flexibility of self-schedulingQualifications:
