GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Director, Digital Marketing Experience reports to the AVP of Marketing and Communications and manages the web services team (4 team members). In addition to working with the web services team, the director works closely with the colleagues in the Office of Marketing and Communications to determine and plan how the web services team can help accomplish the marketing goals of the university. The director is responsible for development, management, and maintenance of the university's primary and strategically important web sites, developing architecture of web sites/applications, administration of marketing cloud, and providing support to end users. The director also serves as the lead web developer and requires advanced knowledge of modern standards-based web technologies. The ability to learn quickly, manage project requirements and deadlines, and stay up to date on current modern technologies is essential.
COMMUNICATIONS
This position requires exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. Communications consist of written, verbal, and in-person meetings, mostly with an internal audience. It is important to be able to gather and interpret marketing and business requirements and translate them to technical solutions that can be implemented to reach the strategic goals of the Office of Marketing and Communications. Ability to translate complex technical ideas to business users and other partners across campus is needed.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position requires a high level of customer service, primary with and internal audience. This is mostly with the colleagues in the functional areas of the Office of Marketing and Communications and also partners and clients across the University. This includes answering phone calls, emails, and responding to support and content requests. The marketing and communications team uses a support ticket system to manage requests and communicate with the end user regarding the request. May occasionally need to interact or submit request to outside 3rd party vendors or partner with other offices on campus for various initiatives.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or an information Technology related field required. Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
5+ year's experience in Drupal site development.
7+ year's experience in the field of web development.
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced working knowledge of standards compliant HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL Databases, Git version control and developer workflows, team-based development processes, Drupal 10 development and site building, JS frameworks/libraries, responsive web design, cross browser CSS/layout, CSS preprocessors, and Linux environments.
Experience with analytics tools, SEO techniques, social media integration, email design limitations, WordPress, web graphic formats, and Photoshop.
Ability to learn, adapt, and demonstrate new skills while working as part of a larger team along with an excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly is essential.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
Supervision of the Marketing and Communications Web Services team (4). Assist with web vendor contract discussions in partnership with OTS.

Physical Environment and Requirements
Normal office environment. Prolonged use of computers and intensive keyboard use is required. May require the ability to move computers, displays, marketing materials, and other equipment up to 20lbs.

Serve as senior Drupal architect and architect for all other web platforms such as Google sites as well as blogs/web development. Evaluate Drupal modules or related technologies and develop custom Drupal modules or features if needed. Perform site building when needed due to workload. Manage the code updates, testing, security, and production tag deployments of websites and applications in Acquia Cloud and other hosting resources. Update web content when needed.
Oversee development and relaunch of optimized university website, which may include leading RFP process with outside vendors.
Development of employee portal.
Work closely with content and marketing colleagues in marketing and communications to analyze site analytics and SEO in order to refine websites for greater usability and visibility. This includes development of strategic landing pages and microsites.

Manage the marketing and communications web services staff. Define developer tasks, prioritize and assign tasks, schedule work, and review code quality. Take client requirements and produce technical plans, functional specifications, and scope documents. Responsible for evaluating technology solutions and determining overall technical architecture of web and online marketing projects and for leading the team in implementing those plans. Support the campus emergency operations team, during the course of a campus emergency, which would include updating websites and other tasks as needed.

Support the marketing and communications office's use of Salesforce and CRM platforms by adding content, building templates and emails, performing A/B tests, configuring campaigns and journeys, and sending communications if needed to accomplish the goals of the marketing and communications office.
