Production/Engineering Manager

Job Description
We are seeking a Production/Engineering Manager to work for a small family run machinery manufacturer in Ashford.
The successful applicant will be working on production equipment much of which, being customer specific, is for one off manufacture.
This is a full time position of 37 hours per week, working 08.00 – 16.30 Monday to Thursday, and 08.00 - 13.00 Friday.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the production department, including personnel, equipment and resources
- Holding contract meetings with the engineering department to manage production timescales
- Working within the contract budgets and timescales, including quality control and packing
- Responsible for maintenance and organisation of main workshop and other workshop areas including the Machine Workshop and Development Workshop
- Ensure all equipment in the areas above are maintained, safe and in good working order
- Liaise with machining suppliers and subcontractors
- Support spares enquiries and orders
- Ensure that the Company Safety Policy is implemented at all times and provide a safe working environment
- Attend and report to management meetings
- Liaise with the admin department to organise and co-ordinate shipments and orders
- Ensure site facilities are tested and maintained
- Liaise with the admin department to provide cost estimates for manufactured parts
The successful applicant must have:
• A background in engineering
• At least 5 years management experience
• Knowledge of Health and Safety in a workshop setting
• Experience in planning production schedules for large projects
• Good organisation skills
Desirable skills include:
• Experience in preparing equipment for international shipping
• Knowledge of machining and inspection procedures
• Experience in negotiating and dealing with subcontractors
• Good computer skills including Microsoft Office, email etc.
