Job Description

Our Client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Site Manager to lead and oversee the construction and development of a high-profile educational project in Surrey. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing site operations, ensuring project milestones are met, and maintaining health and safety standards. This role is ideal for a driven professional with a solid background in site management, especially within the education sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Operations Management
Oversee all day-to-day site activities to ensure the project is on schedule and within budget.
Coordinate and supervise the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff.
Ensure that the site is a safe and compliant work environment, adhering to industry and government regulations.
Project Planning and Coordination
Develop and manage short-term and long-term project plans, adjusting schedules as necessary to accommodate project demands.
Work closely with the project manager, architects, and other key stakeholders to maintain open lines of communication and collaboration.
Monitor project progress against milestones and address potential delays promptly.
Quality Control
Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained across all phases of construction.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and design requirements.
Proactively identify and address any issues related to quality and craftsmanship.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
Implement and enforce health and safety protocols on-site, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
Lead safety meetings and regularly review risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
Champion a culture of safety and accountability among all site personnel.
Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, addressing their needs and concerns in a professional manner.
Maintain positive working relationships with school administrators, local authorities, and community representatives.
Prepare and present regular updates on project status, challenges, and achievements to the client and company leadership.
Budget and Resource Management
Track site-related expenses, managing resources effectively to meet budget targets.
Work with the procurement team to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and equipment.
Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining the project's quality and safety standards.
Requirements:

Experience:
Proven experience (7+ years) in site management, with a strong track record of successfully delivering large-scale education projects.
Demonstrated experience leading site teams in a senior or supervisory capacity.
Qualifications:
NVQ Level 6/7 in Construction Management, HND, or related qualification.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certified.
First Aid certification and CSCS card are required.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
Excellent knowledge of construction processes, standards, and safety regulations.
Proficient in construction management software and project planning tools.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to managing project risks.
