We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistants for a school near Harehills, which caters to a cohort of 60 children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is a full-time, long-term contract position with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

About the Role:

As part of a supportive and dynamic team, you will be working closely with a diverse group of children, including those with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Of the 60 children at the school, 14 have complex SEND and additional needs. A third of children enter school ‘not school ready’, so your role will be key in helping them develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed as they progress through school.

You’ll need to be proactive, creative, and flexible, as this role is hands-on and requires a mix of support both in and out of the classroom. Whether it’s supporting children with their academic development, social and emotional growth, or personal care, you’ll play a key role in helping every child achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support the class teacher in the delivery of lessons and activities across the EYFS curriculum, this will include outdoor provision and learning.

- Provide tailored support for children with SEND, including those with complex needs.

- Assist with personal care where required (experience or willingness to do so is highly desirable).

- Use your initiative to engage children, encourage positive behaviour, and support their learning journey.

- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families, creating a nurturing environment.

- Be proactive in identifying any barriers to learning and offer solutions to overcome them.

- Promote positive interaction and support children in developing essential social and emotional skills.

About You:

- Passionate about working with children, particularly those in the early years and with additional needs.

- Creative, resilient, and proactive, with the ability to think on your feet.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.

- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team, but also confident in using your initiative.

- A willingness and experience to assist with personal care tasks where necessary.

- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable, but not essential. Experience outside of an educational setting working with children or individuals with SEND will be considered.

Why Work With PK Education?

- Long-term opportunity with the potential for permanent employment

- Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

- A supportive team and access to over 100+ CPD courses and training opportunities via PK.

- The opportunity to make a real difference to the education and wellbeing of young children, especially those facing additional challenges.
