Job Description
Abatec are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join our client, an international contractor who is well known for delivering major rail and highway infrastructure projects in some of the most challenging and restricted of environments.
The successful candidate will be working on a £200m visual impact provision scheme in Snowdonia. The project intends to remove 3km of overhead power lines from the Dwyryd Estuary and put them in a new underground tunnel – mitigating the impact of their appearance on the natural surroundings.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in a major project which is expected to complete in 2029 ensuring security and longevity of work in the area.
As a Commercial Manager you will:
Prepare or approve subcontractor payments to ensure compliance with terms
Produce accurate and timely forecasts and monthly reports to demonstrate contract performance
Produce accurate and timely forecasts and monthly reports to demonstrate contract performance
Monitor commercial and contract performance to ensure prompt and focussed corrective action
Systematically review and validate incoming information
Ensure that local teams and workloads are balanced
Mentor subordinate staff
Lead regular commercial meetings internally or with client
Look for ways to maximise the value of working together by building support, providing focus and given direction to deliver joint outcomes.
Take accountability for your work and own development needs.
Challenge and confront sub-standard performance and recognise good performance.
Design, innovate and influence solutions to best address inefficiencies.
Promote and drive continuous improvement
Balance risk when considering innovative thinking and future possibilities.
Seek to learn from team members for the benefit of your own self-development.
Take personal responsibility for delivering services.
Be willing to go the extra mile for your customers.
Pursue a “can-do” attitude in all the work you can deliver.

Our client requires a Commercial Manager with:
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar.
* Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.
* Experience working on Major Projects.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A thorough understanding of NEC form of contracts.
* Commercial and contractual knowledge.
* A valid UK Driving Licence.
Salary and benefits include:
* £85,000 - £95,000 per annum DOE
* Car Allowance
* Competitive benefits package inclusive of enhanced holiday entitlement
