Syensqo is seeking an experienced IT Compliance Engineer with a strong background in Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), dual-use regulations, and the EU's Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS2). This critical role is responsible for ensuring that our IT systems and processes comply with these complex regulatory frameworks, which are vital to our operations, international trade activities, and cybersecurity posture. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of IT compliance requirements and a proven track record in managing compliance within a technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Strategy Development: Design and implement an IT compliance strategy that addresses requirements under EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2, ensuring that all IT systems and processes are in full compliance.
  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks within IT operations. Develop and execute strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring the integrity and security of IT systems.
  3. Regulatory Compliance Management: Lead efforts to ensure IT systems and processes comply with EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2. This includes managing export controls, data protection measures, and cybersecurity practices.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, legal, cybersecurity, and business teams to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance. Provide expert guidance on IT compliance matters across the organization.
  5. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation: Regularly monitor compliance with established policies and procedures. Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory bodies as required. Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities, audits, and assessments.
  6. Policy Development and Enforcement: Create and maintain up-to-date IT compliance policies and procedures. Ensure that these policies are effectively communicated and enforced across the organization.


Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in compliance, cybersecurity, or related areas are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT compliance, with specific expertise in EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2 or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, network security, and data protection principles.
  • Experience with compliance audits, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of effectively collaborating with multiple departments and presenting complex compliance issues in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to drive compliance initiatives within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
