Job Description

This position is designated as Individual Hybrid with Set Frequency and expected to work from the RIBO one day per week (determined by individual based on business requirements). Because this position has been identified as requiring at least some time in the office, you must live within reasonable commuting distance from /RIBO. In this position, you are expected to work from the office as required by your supervisor/manager/director/GM and may be called upon to do so at any time and for any length of time as business needs may dictate.

Overview

The Senior Content & Public Relations Strategist leads and manages content marketing and Public Relations operations in Brazil and the surrounding Latin America region. Reporting jointly to the managers of Global Communications, Public Relations, and the Brazil Office, this role serves as a bridge between Rotary’s global communications objectives and their regional implementation. Working under the direction of the managers and in close partnership with the Regional Content & Magazines Lead, this role shares, develops, and promotes stories; coordinates editorial content planning and distribution; and leads other content marketing efforts as needed in Brazil and the broader region.


You Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field

  • Professional proficiency in English and native fluency in Portuguese (Brazil)

  • Native knowledge of Brazilian culture, society, and history

  • Professional knowledge of digital communications, social media, and content marketing

  • Strong multicultural sensitivity and deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

  • Excellent communication, public speaking, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Spanish desirable

  • International experience desirable

  • PR agency, consumer, and business media outreach experience desirable

  • Experience creating and publishing content for social media, including Facebook and LinkedIn, paid social experience desirable

You Are Open To

  • Traveling to Rotary’s world headquarters for training and team integration.

  • Traveling to projects and events in the region for training, story-mining, and networking

  • Occasionally working early mornings or late evenings as needed to collaborate with team members in different time zones.

  • Occasionally working after-hours or on weekends as assigned to support communications plans or Rotary events.


You Will Be Responsible For

  • Leading and managing regional content marketing strategy, planning, and operation

  • Working with the Public Relations manager and team to develop and implement proactive media outreach strategies (traditional, online and social media) in Brazil and Latin America that support Rotary’s strategic objectives and increase public awareness and understanding of Rotary.

  • Collaborating with various stakeholders at Rotary’s headquarters to develop and implement communications that are culturally relevant for Brazil and the broader Latin American region while being aligned with Rotary’s goals and strategies.

  • Advising content creators and channel owners at Rotary’s headquarters on globalizing communications in English.

  • Managing Rotary’s official social media and blog channels for Brazilian and Latin American audiences.

  • Developing and curating engaging content for our official regional and global platforms, including Rotary’s website and magazines, in close collaboration with the Regional Content & Magazines Lead.

  • Identifying and coaching Rotary spokespeople for media interviews; providing briefings, key messages, talking points, and answers to anticipated questions to enable the spokesperson to effectively and favorably represent Rotary.

  • Working with the Public Relations manager on reputational issues to develop and implement response strategies in accordance with Rotary’s Crisis Response and Reputation Management plans.

  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop story ideas, content, and plans that incorporate news trends, approaches, and tactics.

  • Formulating accurate and timely responses to media inquiries that meet journalists’ story objectives and deadlines.

  • Providing regular reports of media relations activities and coverage.

  • Working with the managers to prepare and evaluate annual budget needs.

  • Working with the managers to oversee and evaluate the work of agencies and hired vendors.

  • Producing strong and engaging story-enhancing collateral materials for the media, including news releases, op-eds, by-lines, fact sheets, visual assets (broll/still photos).

  • Together with Spanish specialists in the Global Communications team, supporting regional magazine editors in Latin America with feedback, training, and regular editorial meetings.

  • Developing and scheduling posts for Portuguese-language social media channels, featuring content supporting Rotary’s multiple causes, initiatives, and events.

  • Presenting data-driven insights and recommendations for enhancing Rotary’s communications in the region

  • Supporting campaigns, initiatives, and events at the regional level as directed by the Public Relations or Global Communications Manager

  • Providing training and resources that help clubs and members tell their stories in ways that strengthen Rotary’s brand.

  • Supporting quality assurance for written communications in Portuguese by providing consultation to the Global Communications team on current trends and language use in the region.

  • Other duties as assigned.
