Job Description
**Job Title:** Mammography Technologist
**Job Specialty:** Imaging
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Day (Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm)
**Guaranteed Hours:**
**Experience:** Minimum 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist and minimum 1 year experience in Mammography (preferred)
**License:** ARRT Radiography, ARRT Mammography
**Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
**Must-Have:**
- Excellent communication skills for interactions with physicians, patients, visitors, departmental staff, and nursing staff
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Competency in all aspects of Mammography, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection
**Job Description:**
- Demonstrates the ability to adjust techniques for optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Reports equipment malfunctions promptly for timely resolution.
- Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment as per infection control policy.
- Obtains complete clinical history and evaluates for contraindications.
- Reviews and releases radiographic images for clinical acceptability.
- Responds to emergency situations and assists other technologists as needed.
- Verifies patient identity and order accuracy before procedures.
- Ensures patient comfort and privacy.
- Follows pre-procedure verification and Time-Out process, if applicable.
- Organizes schedule and priorities to meet designated time frames.
- Practices Read Back and Confirm (RBAC) when taking verbal orders.
- Explains exam procedures to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.
- Participates in training and orientation of new employees.
- Produces high-quality images with a first-time acceptance rate of 95%.
- Completes studies in the Radiology Information System (RIS) correctly and efficiently.
- Familiar with Mammography Tracking System and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
- Performs routine department maintenance tasks and maintains an orderly work environment.
- Transports and positions patients for procedures safely and efficiently.
- Prepares and maintains patient follow-up data.
