About CQC
CQC is an independent regulator of health and social care in England. We make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve. We monitor, inspect, and regulate services to ensure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety, and we publish what we find to help people choose care. CQC is committed to and supports the values that underpin the very foundation of who we are:
. Excellence - Being a high-performing organisation
. Caring - Treating everyone with dignity and respect
. Integrity - Doing the right thing
. Teamwork - Learning from each other to be the best we can

We are seeking talented people to join our Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee as independent members to help us achieve our vision.

Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (ARAC)
To deliver CQC’s strategy, our ARAC supports the board to ensure an effective framework of governance, risk management and control is in place. Independent Committee members must have the necessary skills and experience to undertake these important roles.

We are looking for candidates with an expertise in either, Cybersecurity (Cyber Risk Management), Data governance and control, IT Transformation or Public sector financial oversight.

To be successful in the role, in addition to at least one of the areas above, you’ll have;
. Board level [or equivalent] experience of ensuring effective financial stewardship and risk management.
. An understanding of assurance (Preferably the Three Lines of Defence Model) and its role in effective governance.
. Senior level business or operational experience - leading and operating within complex organisations with a history of delivering or overseeing organisational growth and change.
. An ability to analyse complex information, maintain a sense of perspective and to pick out critical issues.
. Effective communication and relationship building skills, including the ability to negotiate, influence, challenge and listen sensitively to the views of others.
. Commercially and politically aware with the ability to understand and translate the impact of external factors in the context of CQC.

In return, you’ll get the opportunity to make a real difference to people who receive care across England.

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion with Charmion Pears the ARAC Chair, please email Betty.Chiu@cqc.org.uk.

To apply, please review the candidate briefing pack and and upload your CV and covering letter via the CQC jobs page outlining how you meet the essential criteria for this role.
