Job Description
Selective Recruitment is seeking to appoint several waiters/waitresses to deliver a premium catering service to the students, staff, fellows, and guests of the College.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments across the College and maintain regular communication with the broader catering, hospitality, and events teams.
Role: Head Waiter/Waitress
Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
Salary: £26,948 - £29,881 DOE
Contract: 24 – 36.5 hours – Full Time or Part time
Hours: 5 out of 7 days – Rota basis
Roles Includes:
* Serve food and drinks, handle customer queries, and provide refreshments to various areas while bartending for events and dinners.
* Identify and resolve potential catering issues, suggesting improvements to management.
* Train and supervise Catering Assistants, Waiting Staff, and Till Staff to ensure high service standards.
* Maintain and replenish food/drink displays, conduct stock rotations, and perform regular inventory checks.
* Order supplies per purchasing guidelines, coordinating with suppliers and the Hospitality office to ensure quality and adequate stock.
* Set up restaurant tables according to standards and reservations and assist with meeting room and event setups.
* Ensure tables are cleared and all dining equipment is cleaned to high standards.
* Assist the Middle Common Room with bar operations, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and reporting issues to management.
* Adhere to Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH regulations.
* Manage laundry deliveries and linen/uniform supplies.
* Handle keys responsibly, ensuring they are signed in and out accurately.
* Report Guest Night Dinner attendance to the Dining Hall Manager.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as directed, including attending meetings and training, and assisting with kitchen portering tasks.
Candidate specification:
* Previous supervisory experience
* Strong communication skills
* High attention to detail
* Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and COSHH regulations
* Level 1/2 food safety and preparation qualifications
