Job Description
Currently seeking a Principal Engineering Manager to join the design team in the UK.
In this role, you will oversee and lead a design team, taking on project financial responsibilities. You will manage design delivery at all stages, from feasibility studies and option analysis through to detailed designs for construction and commissioning.
While this role primarily supports specific frameworks, there will be ample opportunities to engage with various projects across the UK for different clients. This is a permanent position with a hybrid work model, ideally based in or around our Shrewsbury office.
What Will Your Day Look Like?
Serve as a technical expert, providing design guidance, support, and constructive challenges.
Identify project scopes and incorporate them into a priced program of work.
Deliver all design aspects throughout the project lifecycle while meeting time, cost, and quality metrics.
Act as the primary point of contact for projects.
Provide guidance on best practices to meet technical and project requirements.
Plan and manage all project design requirements effectively.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM.
Maintain strong working relationships with clients on technical matters.
Liaise with stakeholders regarding project specifics and prepare necessary technical reports and responses.
Assess tender and project requirements, preparing fee estimates accordingly.
Administer project reporting to management, monitoring design program delivery, resources, and budgets.
Lead and inspire team members to achieve exceptional project performance.
About You
Bachelor's or master's degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
Chartered Engineer (C.Eng or I.Eng) status or working towards it, or equivalent experience demonstrating relevant competencies.
Previous experience in people management is preferred.
Strong management and coordination skills.
Proficient problem-solving abilities and technical realisation skills.
Sound knowledge of statutory processes and technical standards.
Familiarity with current health & safety legislation and CDM regulations.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment is essential
