Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic construction consultancy team, contributing to critical infrastructure projects within the utilities and electrical sector. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, including the development of overhead powerlines and electrical substations, ensuring these transformative works are delivered within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Oversight: Manage the financial performance of key utilities projects, ensuring budget adherence and cost efficiency.
* Contract Management: Administer NEC3/4 contracts, handle variations, and ensure compliance throughout project lifecycles.
* Early-Phase Expertise: Manage early project stages, including consent orders and PCS contracts, ensuring smooth transitions into delivery phases.
* Risk Mitigation: Identify financial risks and implement effective strategies to minimise project impact.
* Reporting: Deliver clear, detailed financial reports to stakeholders, highlighting project progress and expenditure.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, clients, and contractors to facilitate smooth project execution.
* Site Engagement: Conduct on-site visits to project locations in Greater Manchester.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Sector Expertise: Experience of Quantity Surveying in infrastructure projects, ideally within utilities or electrical construction.
* Contract Knowledge: In-depth understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and their application in project delivery.
* Skills: Strong financial acumen, negotiation, and communication skills with a focus on project delivery.
* Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
* Certifications: Membership in RICS or an equivalent professional body is advantageous
