Are you an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting children with Autism and Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including those with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)? If you are dedicated to making a difference and providing a nurturing learning environment, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for a 1:1 Teacher to work with a student on a part-time, morning-only basis at . This role is ideal for a qualified teacher with experience in supporting children with Autism, offering a chance to make a significant impact on a student’s educational and personal development.
About the Role:
As a 1:1 Teacher, you will work closely with a student with Autism and possible PDA, providing tailored support to meet their unique educational and social needs. You will collaborate with the SENDCO and class teachers to deliver personalised learning plans, using creative and effective strategies to ensure the student can thrive academically and socially within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver 1:1 lessons tailored to the individual learning needs of a student with Autism and potential PDA.
* Work in close partnership with the SENCO and other school staff to ensure the student’s educational needs are fully met.
* Use differentiated teaching methods to support the student’s progress in line with their personalised learning plan.
* Monitor the student’s academic, social, and emotional progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
* Support the student with both academic and behavioural challenges, using strategies that promote positive engagement and independent learning.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring the student feels safe, valued, and confident.
* Adapt and modify resources and teaching strategies to ensure the student’s accessibility and understanding of the curriculum.
Requirements:
* A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) is essential.
* Experience working with children with Autism and/or PDA is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting children with Autism, including behavioural management techniques.
* Ability to differentiate teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
* A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach, with a genuine desire to help children with SEN succeed.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
* A commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
