This partnership supports the NDA’s mission for safe, secure, and efficient management of nuclear records and assets across various high-security sites.
Job summary
We are seeking a Security Manager to provide expert security management, advisory, and assurance services, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements for the Nucleus archive, locations, and other NDA asset storage sites.
This role will cover Sellafield, Warrington, and Wick locations, with travel required to each site.
Responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of Site Security Plans, Transport Security Plans, and Business Continuity arrangements, as well as overseeing security incident reporting, investigations, and risk management. The Security Manager will drive security performance across all sites, ensuring the safety and resilience of operational and physical security measures, including guarding and site security oversight.
Your role in our mission:
- Provide expert advice and solutions on security, information security, and resilience in line with His Majesty’s Government (HMG), Office for Nuclear regulation (ONR) and Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) requirements.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with security, information security, and resilience standards across the contract.
- Monitor the performance of manned guarding services.
- Support leadership in developing and implementing a cohesive security and risk strategy in line with NDA requirements.
- Advise business units on managing security risks and assist in developing and prioritizing mitigation strategies.
- Execute IM Security and Risk Policies, Procedures, and Plans relating to the NDA contract.
- Provide ongoing support to GSRS Advocate staff in delivering safety, risk, and security requirements.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and vetting procedures for staff and subcontractors.
- Allocate time monthly across sites based on security profiles and risks.
- Offer advice and support during security emergencies and volatile periods.
- Provide pre-emptive risk reduction strategies for potential disruptions or major events.
- Advise on security design and implementation of technical measures for current or proposed projects.
- Network with internal stakeholders (Audit, Ops, HR, Real Estate) and external security, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies.
- Travel between sites as needed for inspections, operational requirements, or emergencies.

Valued skills and experience:
- Relevant degree level qualification or vocational equivalent or suitable experience via nuclear industry, armed forces or police authorities.
- 5+ years’ experience managing security teams, sub-contractors and restricted access facilities.
- Holds Developed Vetting Clearance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HMG Security Policy Framework and international standards.
- Competent to manage Security Controlled Information.
- Experience of business continuity management.
- Full understanding of UK Security Legislation
- Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards such membership (Institute of Leadership/Security Institute)
- The incumbent must be a UK citizen and achieve and maintain a Developed Vetting level security clearance
- Strong influencing and leadership skills required, together with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Demonstrable evidence of having received security, Business Continuity and Audit training by recognised training providers
- Ability to travel throughout the region involving overnight stays for one or more nights
